Biometrics

Biometrics are a form of security.

The term biometrics is the measurement of unique physical characteristics, for example fingerprints and facial features. The purpose is to verify identity of an individual. Biometric security effectively reduces the chance that someone can be impersonated or mistaken as someone else.

This method is secure because your physical caracteristics are unique to you and only you; therefore, humans and computers cannot replicate this. Biometrics are being used mroe and more. Biometrics include finger print and facial identification. They are used in modern phones now. For example, iPhones include a fingerprint sensor. Some andriod devices include facial recognition. This security is basic, simple and easy to use and is used in our everyday life.

Biometrics does not make a system invincible. Biometrics usually protect physical access to your machine, meaning you are protected for the people around you. It does not prevent viruses, worms, adware, etc. from entering your computer. However, it is still an easy and quick method for the user to access their system.

Concearns for this method of security is rising. Techonology is getting more advanced. It is getting possible to 3D print your finger and/or face just from high quality pictures. These 3D prints can bybass biometrics. Which means you should be more aware of taking selfies.
